SUMMER HEALTH SERVICES
Get ready for holidays, outdoor activities and the warmer months.
Summer brings opportunities to travel, spend more time outdoors and focus on feeling healthier. It can also bring unfamiliar health risks, troublesome skin conditions, ear problems and renewed motivation to improve your health.
Your local Dears Pharmacy team offers a focused range of Summer Health Services to help you prepare, feel confident and enjoy the season.
Our Summer Health Services campaign brings together four areas of support for your health and wellbeing during the warmer months.
Choose the service that is right for you, book online and our pharmacy team will guide you through the rest.
Travel Health and Holiday Protection
Whether you are planning a family holiday, travelling for work, visiting relatives or heading somewhere more adventurous, our Travel Clinic can help you prepare properly. Our pharmacy team can assess your destination, planned activities and individual health needs before recommending appropriate vaccinations, malaria prevention or travel treatments.
Skin, Sun and Confidence
Small skin lesions can become more noticeable or troublesome when wearing lighter clothing and spending more time outdoors. Our in-pharmacy cryotherapy service provides targeted treatment for suitable skin tags, warts, verrucae and other small lesions. Your pharmacy professional will assess the area and explain whether cryotherapy is an appropriate option.
Ear Health, Swimming / Outdoors
Swimming, water sports, flights and time spent outdoors can all draw attention to blocked ears, reduced hearing or ear discomfort. Our Ear Health & Hearing Health Clinic can assess your ears, investigate possible causes of hearing difficulties and advise on the most appropriate next step. Where suitable, treatment may include professional earwax removal. We can also identify symptoms that require further medical assessment.
Summer Body, Energy and Wellbeing
Summer can provide fresh motivation to improve your health, increase your activity and work towards a healthier weight. Our private Weight Management Services offer professional, clinically supervised support built around your health, circumstances and longer-term goals. This is not about achieving a short-term “summer body”. It is about making informed, sustainable changes that can improve your health throughout the year.
Summer HEALTH TIPS
- Prepare for travel early: Some vaccination courses need more than one dose, so contact the Travel Clinic as soon as you know where you are going.
- Check your skin: Pay attention to new or changing marks and seek appropriate clinical advice rather than assuming they can be treated with cryotherapy.
- Look after your ears: Avoid inserting cotton buds or other objects into the ear canal. Seek advice if you experience pain, discharge, blocked ears or reduced hearing.
- Choose sustainable changes: Improvements to weight, activity and nutrition are more likely to last when they are realistic, supported and appropriate for your health.

FAQs
Service availability varies between pharmacies. The online booking system will show the participating locations and available appointment times for each service.
In most cases, no. These services can be accessed directly through participating Dears Pharmacies. Where further investigation or GP assessment is appropriate, our pharmacy team will explain the next step.
Book as early as possible, ideally when you begin planning your trip. Some vaccines require multiple doses or need time to provide protection. However, it may still be possible to provide useful advice, vaccinations or treatments for last-minute travel.
This depends on your destination, length of stay, planned activities, medical history and previous vaccinations. Your Travel Clinic consultation will assess your individual requirements.
No. Cryotherapy is only suitable for certain skin lesions. The pharmacy professional will assess the area before treatment. Suspicious, changing or unsuitable lesions will not be treated and may require assessment elsewhere.
Professional earwax removal may be offered where an assessment shows that it is necessary and clinically appropriate. The team will explain any preparation required before treatment.
Severe pain, sudden hearing loss, significant discharge, injury or other concerning symptoms may require urgent medical assessment rather than a routine ear health appointment. Contact the pharmacy, NHS 24 or another appropriate healthcare service for advice.
No. Prescription treatment is only provided following an individual clinical assessment and when it is safe and appropriate. Your pharmacy professional will discuss the available options with you.
No. Sustainable weight management is a longer-term process. Summer may provide motivation to begin, but our service is designed to support lasting improvements throughout the year.
Yes. You can book different services separately according to your needs. For example, you may wish to visit the Travel Clinic before a holiday while also arranging support for your ear health or weight management.
