Whether you are concerned about your health, managing an existing condition or simply curious, a blood test provides a fast, affordable and easy way to start taking charge of your own health.
We offer in-store testing to make the process as simple, stress free and convenient as possible.
Why get tested?
A Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) blood test is used to detect an active Hepatitis B infection by identifying a protein found on the surface of the virus. This test is essential for diagnosing both early (acute) and long-standing (chronic) infections, determining whether someone is currently infectious, and monitoring how well treatment is working in those with chronic Hepatitis B. It is commonly performed after potential exposure—such as through unprotected contact, certain travel risks, or occupational exposure in healthcare—to identify infection as early as possible.
The test is also used to screen individuals at higher risk, including those born to an HBV-positive mother or people with chronic liver disease. While it does not measure immunity directly, a negative HBsAg result helps guide follow-up testing with Hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) to assess protection from vaccination or past infection.
