Introduction

Got a minor ailment but too busy to visit your GP? Our NHS Minor Ailments Service can help. If you have a minor ailment, our experienced pharmacy staff can often provide you with the medication you need, saving you a trip to the GP - and maybe also money, as for many people this medication can be provided completely free of charge. Our staff are trained and qualified to treat minor ailments such as:

- Coughs & colds

- Allergies

- Diarrhoea

- Head Lice

- Threadworms

- Athlete’s Foot

- Dhobie Itch

- Vaginal Thrush

- Ear Wax

- Mouth ulcers

- Oral Thrush

Service description

There’s no need to make an appointment, simply pop into your local Dears Pharmacy and ask to speak to the Pharmacist. All our pharmacies have patient consultation rooms where you can chat to our Pharmacist about your condition in comfort, in private and, of course, in confidence.

You’re entitled to free over-the-counter medicines for minor illnesses if you’re registered with a Scottish GP practice and are: under 16, over 60, under 19 and in full-time education, on social security benefits or have a maternity, medical, war pension or other form of exemption certificate. All you have to do is register once with your local pharmacy for the NHS Minor Ailment Scheme.
