qADAM QUESTIONNAIRE
The qADAM questionnaire (Greenfield et al., 2010) is based on the original 10 questions from the ADAM questionnaire (Morley et al., 2000) but replaces the binary ‘Yes’/‘No’ format with a 5-point Likert scale. On this scale, a score of 5 indicates the absence of a symptom, while a score of 1 indicates the most severe presentation of that symptom. The qADAM questionnaire is designed to provide a more detailed view of low testosterone symptoms and support the assessment of their severity. Healthcare professionals are advised to ask patients to complete the qADAM questionnaire once a consultation has been booked.
Note: A simplified version of the qADAM assessment — the ADAM questionnaire — is recommended for patients who present with symptoms of low testosterone, to complete before booking a consultation. Information about the ADAM questionnaire and its ten questions can be found in the Network Resources Centre.
All questions are given equal weight, and the total qADAM score ranges from 10 to 50 — with lower scores indicating more pronounced symptoms, and higher scores indicating fewer symptoms (Greenfield et al., 2010).
